A water-stable functionalized NiCo-LDH/MOF nanocomposite: green synthesis, characterization, and its environmental application for heavy metals adsorption

Removal of toxic heavy metals from aquatic environments has become a major concern due to environmental problems and the potential hazards risks posed by them. Nowadays, adsorption method as one most effective methods removing pollutants attracted increasing attention among chemists researchers. However, challenges is design develop more adsorbents well prepare them via greener safer approaches. In line with these goals, functionalized Ni50Co50-layered double hydroxide/UiO-66-(Zr)-(COOH)2 nanocomposite (LDH/MOF NC) was prepared facile “green“ synthesis protocol used an adsorbent for removal mercury nickel cations aqueous media. UiO-66-(Zr)-(COOH)2 nanoparticles were in situ grown homogeneously over surface two-dimensional ultrathin Ni50Co50-LDH sheets. A green organic-solvent-free route LDH/MOF NC which water solvent. The performance Hg(II) Ni(II) studied influence some experimental factors, such solution pH, initial metal concentration, contact time, on process investigated. theoretical maximum capacities based Langmuir isotherm found be 509.8 mg g−1 441.0 Ni(II), respectively, under constant conditions. We believe that “green” this work can starting point fabrication development similar composite materials future works, especially use adsorption, extraction, catalysis, drug delivery applications.
